Empower the economically disadvantaged women and support education of the children from urban slums by operating and, encouraging the setting up of, Community Engagement Centers.

Milestones in the History of RKSSNGO

1968 – Year of Registration and launch of mobile health services of RKSS – Most Revered Swami Ranganathanandaji, XIII President of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission inspired the founding trustees to start service in Mumbai slums.

1976 – MHADA leases land – Recognizing the mobile services of the founding trustees Mumbai Housing and Development Authority (MHADA) gives long-lease of land to RKSS.

1978 – RKSS owns a building – Most revered Swami Vireswaranandaji, X President of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission consecrated the building, for Medical services & Tailor training.

1987Basant Panchami – Established pre-school activities.

1993 – Silver Jubilee – Completed 25 years of carrying  the seva-gene without any hindrance.

2001 – Lease of land – Old lease expired giving place to the new, MHADA renewed the long lease.

2005 – Mumbai deluge – Land and the building got submerged in the great deluge, 26.07.2005.

2007 – Building repairs & New Trustees –Building fully repaired, and a new set of Trustees were nominated by the Most Revered Swami Vagishanandaji, later Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission.

2011 – Prep for Twinning Program, UK – Prepared to launch twinning program between RKSS tuition children, and the children of Greenfileds Primary School, Bristol UK. Started Library & Reading Room.

2012 – GAP partner – RKSS became the GAP (Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalp) program partner of the Ramakrishna Mission, Belur, Howrah, WB; 3-year long service activities were dedicated to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth Anniversary. Started tuitions to school children along with free milk and biscuits.

2014 – UHTC – RKSS medical center becomes the Urban Health Training Center of KJS Hospital.

2015 – Ambit Oditi Foundation – Partners with RKSS for tailor training, and one batch of caregiver course.

2018 – Golden Jubilee Year –Started free Homeo clinic, and strengthened sports mainly Mallakhamb.

2020 – SATTVAINDIA – Direct action to improve livelihood of women-tailors whose lives were rudely shaken by the pandemic.

Ever since then the Trustees of the Samiti and its workers have been unceasingly working as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing free health care, educational, and vocational services for the urban poor.
The present Trustees are: Ms. Sujata Haldipur, Ar. Mrs. Vidya Raghu, Dr. Mrs. Bharati Srinivas, Mrs. Arpita Ghosh, Mrs. Sheila Chowdhury, Dr. Mrs.Mamata Venkatesh, and Ms. Chhaya Sawant.
